What is established
Information supported by a checked archive record, official document, court or legal record, peer-reviewed research or another directly verifiable source.
This page keeps the Kosi Bay story focused on people, heritage, customary knowledge, rights, conservation access and evidence.
This page is the technical record behind the five readable heritage pages. It identifies the kinds of sources that must be gathered and labelled: Pietermaritzburg Archives Repository records, NARSSA identifiers and catalogue descriptions, reserve and removal records, legal and Marine Protected Area documents, academic research, community-rights research, tourism and concession documents, and clearly attributed community testimony.
Information supported by a checked archive record, official document, court or legal record, peer-reviewed research or another directly verifiable source.
Attributed testimony, community history and oral history are included respectfully and identified as such. They are evidence of experience and knowledge, not automatically a final legal finding.
Research leads, incomplete archive trails, contested development claims and present-day rights questions remain visible as unresolved rather than being filled with assumptions.
Use plain-language labels such as Archive record, Official legal or government document, Peer-reviewed research, Community account, Oral history or interview, Journalistic report, Research lead requiring confirmation and Unresolved question.
External archive, legal and research links belong at the bottom of the relevant page or here. When an approved URL is added, it must open in a new browser tab with target="_blank" and rel="noopener noreferrer". No URL or archive identifier should be invented, and Daily Maverick should not be used as a trusted source.
Do not publish exact sensitive fish-kraal locations, vulnerable habitats, private family information or unsupported claims about a lodge, removals or tourism income. The purpose of evidence is transparency and accountability, not exposure.
